Justice 4 Housing is proud to celebrate a historic milestone: our first program graduate to achieve homeownership. Michael Ducoing, a participant in our SHARP (Stable Housing and Reintegration Program) Cohort 1, has closed on a beautiful three-bedroom condo in Boston—turning a lifelong dream into reality and setting a powerful example for justice-impacted individuals everywhere.
Michael’s journey has been defined by hope, resilience, and the transformative power of second chances. At 60 years old, he has not only secured a permanent home for himself, but has also built a foundation of stability and generational wealth for his one and only son. His story is a testament to what’s possible when individuals are given the support and resources they need to rebuild their lives after incarceration.
Michael’s path to homeownership was paved with hard work and determination. Through steady employment and a commitment to his goals, Michael eventually earned a salary that exceeded the income limits for his Section 8 housing voucher. Rather than seeing this as a setback, he embraced it as an opportunity to take the next step—transitioning from voucher holder to homeowner. With the steadfast support of Justice 4 Housing, Realtor Liana Williams, and our community partners, Michael was able to navigate the home-buying process and secure a place to call his own.
Michael’s accomplishment is more than just a personal victory; it represents a beacon of hope for others returning home and seeking to build new lives. His journey demonstrates that stable housing is the foundation for long-term empowerment, family legacy, and true community reintegration.
At Justice 4 Housing, we are committed to supporting justice-impacted individuals as they pursue stability, opportunity, and the dream of homeownership. Michael’s story is a reminder of why our work matters—and why we will continue to fight for pathways to housing justice and economic mobility.
Congratulations to Michael and to everyone who helped make this milestone possible. Here’s to new beginnings and brighter futures for all!
