Stable Housing and Reintegration Program (SHARP)
Due to the excellent response to our Info Session on December 7th, 2023, we are processing applicants and are unable to take inquiries at this time. We will be in touch in late January to give an update to all applicants who were present.
SHARP addresses the housing and stabilization needs of Formerly Incarcerated People (FIP) by providing not only housing subsidy vouchers, but also wrap-around care and empowerment services. SHARP aims to build pathways to homeownership by divesting from inequitable discriminatory systems and returning not just resources, but, control over these resources to the individuals most impacted by systemic racism. These resources, and the intensive participation of both the clients and the case managers in the program, assure graduates remain stable.

Pathways to Homeownership
SHARP partners with the Boston Housing Authority (BHA) to provide subsidy housing vouchers to Justice-Involved Individuals (JIIs).
SHARP clients receive 12-18 months of individualized case management and stabilization services including financial empowerment support and healthcare access.
After completing the SHARP program, clients are eligible to apply their subsidy housing voucher to a mortgage and become homeowners.
Program Overview
SHARP allocates subsidy vouchers primarily to individuals or families who have children in the foster care system and those who are chronically homeless. Participants are vetted and interviewed before being accepted into the program and, once accepted, are required to follow to our program guidelines. Individuals are eligible to apply to SHARP up to three years after their release date.
Our wrap-around stabilization services include:
- Access to physical and mental healthcare services
- Personal banking assistance
- Financial advising
- Case management and connection to community resources and public benefits
- Job placement and training
- First-time homebuyer education and placement
- Peer support

Application Process
Step 1
Complete the SHARP application form online. Click the “Apply Now!” button below to fill it out when you are ready.
Step 2
After submitting your SHARP application form, applicants must attend an information session with J4H (dates and times will be emailed to you) in order to be considered for final acceptance into the program.
Step 3
After completing the form and attending the information session, you will be eligible for an interview for admission into SHARP. If you are not selected for the current cohort, you will be kept on our list for admission the following year.
