Program Overview

Justice 4 Housing is launching the Stabilized Home Ownership Program (SHOP), a transformative initiative designed to empower justice-impacted individuals on the path to homeownership. SHOP supports program participants in transitioning from housing vouchers to permanent home ownership, breaking cycles of housing instability and building generational wealth and long-term economic security for themselves and their families.

For too long, justice-impacted individuals have been excluded from the path to homeownership due to housing discrimination, credit barriers, and systemic inequities. SHOP changes that narrative by providing comprehensive support, mentorship, and advocacy to help participants achieve the dream of homeownership.

Through individualized guidance and wraparound services, SHOP participants receive the tools, resources, and support they need to navigate the homeownership process with confidence. Our program recognizes that homeownership is not just about owning a property—it’s about building wealth, stability, and opportunity for future generations.

Meet Our First Homeowner

Michael Ducoing, SHARP Cohort 2 Program Participant

Michael’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of stable housing and comprehensive support. After serving 26 years in prison, Michael connected with Justice 4 Housing and secured a housing voucher, which provided the foundation he needed to rebuild his life. With dedicated support from Justice 4 Housing staff and realtor Liana Williams, Michael found stable housing and focused on securing meaningful employment.

His hard work and determination led to increased income, allowing him to surpass his voucher’s income limits and achieve financial independence. This milestone opened the door to homeownership! Michael is now Justice 4 Housing’s first graduate homeowner, a testament to what’s possible when justice-impacted individuals receive the support, resources, and opportunity to build generational wealth and stability for themselves and their families.
